Plumbing & gas change

How plumbing & gas businesses get jobs from permits

Kitchens, baths, additions and new homes all need a plumber, and the permit is filed before most of that work is bid out. You hear about it while there's still a job to win.

Sample The permits below are made up to show the idea. Subscribers get the real ones every morning, with the owner and contractor.

  1. 1 Kitchen and bath remodels

    Why it's a lead
Moving a shower or sink means new supply and drain lines. Remodelers often sub that out and want someone reliable.
    What to do and when
Call the contractor on the permit and offer to quote the rough-in. If it's an owner-builder, mail the owner directly.
    What to say
"Saw the bath remodel on Lanternfish Way. If you need the plumbing roughed in, I can look at it this week."
  2. 2 New homes where the builder needs a plumbing sub

    Why it's a lead
Every new house needs underground, rough-in and trim-out plumbing. Builders new to the county may not have a regular plumber yet, and busy ones want a backup.
    What to do and when
Call the builder on the permit before the slab is poured. Bring a price for a typical three-bath plan.
    What to say
"I do new-construction plumbing here in Nassau. If you want a second number for Shellbank Hollow, I can have it to you this week."
  3. 3 Gas lines for new generators and pool heaters

    Why it's a lead
A pool heater or standby generator needs a gas line, and the pool or generator company often doesn't run it.
    What to do and when
Call the pool or generator company on the permit and offer to handle the gas line. Their customer gets one less thing to arrange.
    What to say
"I run gas lines for pool heaters around Yulee. Want me to price the one on Quillback Ct?"

The math

A year of the email costs $1,188. If it lands you one repipe or water heater job, it has paid for itself. Everything after that is profit.

And if your first 30 days don't pay off, you get your $99 back. You can't lose money trying it.

Next: pick your towns

You'll get new homes, remodels, pool jobs and solar jobs: the permits that lead to your work. You can change this any time.
