Permit leads by trade

One trade's permit is the next trade's lead. A roofer can't use another roofer's re-roof, but the gutter crew, the solar company and the dumpster company can. So we send each trade the permits that come right before its work.

Roofing New homes, remodels and solar jobs. New homes need a roof crew, additions need a roof tied in, and solar going onto an old roof usually means a re-roof first. We don't send you other roofers' re-roofs: those jobs are already sold. 31
Gutters, soffit & siding Re-roofs, new homes and remodels. Gutters come off with the old roof, and plenty of roofers don't put them back. Every re-roof, new home and addition is a gutter, soffit or siding job. 35
Solar & generators Re-roofs, panel upgrades and new homes. A brand-new roof is the best time for panels, a new 200 amp panel makes a generator easy, and new homes almost never come with backup power. 36
HVAC New homes and remodels. New homes need a system and additions need more tonnage. The builder on the permit usually subs it out. 26
Plumbing & gas New homes, remodels, pool jobs and solar jobs. New homes and remodels need rough-in, and pool heaters and standby generators need a gas line. The company on the permit often hands that off. 35
Electrical New homes, remodels, pool jobs and solar jobs. Pools need bonding and equipment wiring, generators need a transfer switch, and remodels need circuits. The company on the permit usually subs the wiring. 35
Landscaping & irrigation New pools, new homes and remodels. A new house finishes on bare dirt, a new pool wrecks the back yard, and an addition tears up the side lawn. Each one ends with an owner who wants the yard fixed. 28
Pools & spas Pool jobs and new homes. A new pool needs weekly service from the day it's filled, and most builders don't offer it. New-home permits show you who will want a pool next. 10
Fence New pools and new homes. Florida's pool safety law means most new pools need a barrier fence before final inspection, and new homes on open lots get fenced in the first year. 8
Windows, doors, blinds & shutters Window jobs, new homes and remodels. New homes come with bare windows, additions add openings, and replacement windows rarely fit the old blinds. 42
Remodels & additions Demolitions, window jobs and re-roofs. Owners fix the outside first. Once the roof and windows are done, the kitchen and baths are next. A demolition is an owner deciding what to build. 30
Builders & general contractors Demolitions and new homes. A teardown is a lot that needs a builder. New-home permits show which builders are busy, which owner-builders need a licensed pro, and who might need subs or a partner. 12
Demolition, dumpsters & site work Demolitions, new homes, remodels and re-roofs. Tear-offs, remodels and teardowns fill dumpsters, and new homes need clearing and pad prep. Owners often file the demo permit before they pick who does it. 41
Painting Remodels, new homes, window jobs and siding jobs. Additions have to match the house, new windows leave trim to paint, and new siding needs a finish coat. 43
Pest control New homes, remodels and demolitions. New homes need a termite pretreat before the slab, and teardowns and remodels send pests next door. 32
Cleaning & junk removal New homes, remodels, demolitions and re-roofs. New homes need a final clean before closing, remodels leave dust in every room, and houses get emptied before a teardown. 41
